The legend started back in 1888, a man named David Bradley had a candy shop. His candy shop had gotten flooded during a hurricane. As a result, his entire stock even, his soft taffy had been soaked in ocean saltwater. He was cleaning his shop after the storm when a young girl walked in asking for some taffy. He joked about only having salt water taffy! The young girl took a bag of this sweet, saltwater taffy and went skipping down the street. She was so delighted she was back the next day for more of this sweet beach treat. Over 130 years later, people are still craving this delicious beach confection.
